HFL - Homie For Life. Man it is unbelievable to think how two random people can meet and through a series of events can become life long brothers. Scott Peart is my HFL, it has been three years since we first met and I cannot begin to explain the relationship we have. But there are a few things that have happened to help our relationship get to the HFL status where it is currently, which is HFLs for life (yes, that makes it for double life)!
So here they are (only follow these steps if you are serious about finding an HFL!!):
- Make memories together, not war (no "friend-i-mies" here)
- Experience life changing decisions as a team
- Have the same professional, spiritual, educational and social goals
- If a person is a friend of your HFL, then that makes them your friend too (esp family!)
- No, no, no, absolutely NO secrets. Always speak your mind
Scotty P and I have done all these steps including all the randomly awesome ones like skinny dipping together, takings sloppy seconds (never me haha), get each other's backs, apply to The Amazing Race together or anything else life throws at you. Bottom line, Scotty has been there with me through thick and thin and you know what, it's an awesome feeling to know he'll be there tomorrow and all the way to when we are dads and old gramps!
